About The Team And The Role
At Ocado, we pride ourselves on the wealth of data we have available to us. We're looking for a Category Insight Analyst to extract and make sense of that data in order to help our buying teams to make the best decisions – for our customers, for our suppliers and for our business.
In this role, you'll have the chance to work on both tactical questions as well as supporting your trading team to develop their longer-term category strategies. Your day to day tasks and responsibilities will centre around scoping and completing analytical projects to better understand why customers buy what they do, and how we are able to influence their decisions. You'll become the expert in what influences Ocado’s product sales and profitability, through ranging, price and promotions.
What You’ll Do
- Storytelling – taking the data and insights that you’ve found and communicating it to others in a concise and understandable way
- Influence stakeholders to make the right decisions using your insight
- Manage relationships across multiple stakeholders and teams
- Create and maintain reports in Excel and Tableau
- Understand “the question behind the question” – what is the context behind what you’re being asked to do and how will your insights be used?
Who you are
- SQL – you will either have some prior experience or an interest and eagerness to learn (we can train you)
- Significant data analysis experience
- You will have a commercial mindset and be a great problem-solver – using these skills to help answer business questions and uncover actionable insight
- Be numerate – can demonstrate their experience using large datasets and have great Excel skills
- Be a strong communicator – able to feedback their findings to a range of stakeholders across all levels
- Collaborate across teams – seeking knowledge from others and willing to share expertise
- Have a proactive approach to their work. Bringing ideas to the team on projects that would add benefit to Ocado and our customers
- Always stand up for our customers, keeping their needs front of mind
