Senior Childcare Solicitor

Our client, a Local Authority based in the North West, is currently recruiting for a Senior Childcare Lawyer to join their busy team on a locum basis for 3-months initially.

The role offers remote working with fortnightly attendance required at hearings in the Manchester Courts, and the rate is in the region of £55 p/hour UMB.

The team have capacity for full-time hours, however part-time and flexible options will be considered.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Managing a complex caseload of public law children matters, including Section 31 care proceedings and Deprivation of Liberty (DoL) applications
• Providing robust advocacy in the Family Court and High Court, including contested hearings and final hearings
• Delivering high-quality legal advice and representation to social workers, senior managers, and client departments
• Drafting, reviewing, and presenting legal documentation including care plans, threshold documents, and court applications
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and best practice across the childcare team

Working hours:

• 35 hours per week
• Monday – Friday
