Senior Cloud Automation Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and forward‑thinking Cloud Automation Engineer to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of automation and optimisation solutions across Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will play a key role in improving system reliability, scalability and cost‑effectiveness through modern automation practices and Infrastructure as Code.

What you'll be doing:
- Designing, building and implementing cloud automation solutions that improve reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.
- Leading automation and optimisation initiatives across Azure and OCI to enhance performance and resource utilisation.
- Identifying opportunities to reduce operational overhead and improve cost‑efficiency through automation and cloud optimisation.
- Analysing existing environments and processes to uncover strategic automation opportunities and quick optimisation wins.
- Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Supporting the delivery of secure and compliant cloud solutions within UK public sector environments.
What you’ll bring:
Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent.
Location: Home based with occasional travel to Gosport or Glasgow.
Security Clearance Level: Eligible for DV clearance.

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000.

- Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of automation and Infrastructure as Code tooling, especially Terraform and Ansible.
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable cloud automation and optimisation solutions.
- Experience developing scripts, reusable frameworks and automated deployment solutions.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills with the ability to spot and deliver practical opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to provide technical leadership through mentoring, guidance and knowledge sharing.
