Description

Kato is a fast growing PropTech (property tech) company. Backed by industry-leading VCs, investors, entrepreneurs and advisors, we’re on an exciting path with a mission to change the future of commercial property. We’re doing this through our ever-evolving all-in-one online platform built for everyone involved in commercial property transactions, plus a whole lot of industry data. We’re only just getting started, and we’re looking for dynamic, confident individuals to expand our brilliant team and join us on the journey!

Role overview

We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join us on an initial 3-6 month contract basis. You'll be our go-to person for all things infrastructure; owning our AWS environment, keeping things running smoothly, and helping us level up how we build and ship software. Right now, we're at a point where we need someone who can take what we've got and make it better: tighter CI/CD pipelines, cleaner infrastructure-as-code, and a real push toward security best practices as we work toward ISO 27001. You won't be starting from scratch, but you will be the one driving things forward. You'll work closely with our development team, so being a good communicator matters just as much as being good with Terraform. This is a hybrid role; we like face time, but we're not going to make you commute every day.

Responsibilities & expectations

Infrastructure & Cloud

  • Own and improve our AWS infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, cost-efficiency, and sensible architecture.
  • Write and maintain Terraform to manage our cloud resources. We want everything codified, version-controlled, and reviewable.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues. When things break at inconvenient times, you're the one we'll be looking to.

CI/CD & Developer Experience

  • Build out and refine our CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, making it easy (and safe) for developers to ship code confidently.
  • Evaluate and introduce tooling where it makes sense. We're open to your recommendations on what will make us faster and more reliable.
  • Work with the dev team to reduce friction in the development workflow. If something's slow or painful, fix it or flag it.

Security & Compliance

  • Drive our infrastructure security practices forward as we work toward ISO 27001 certification.
  • Implement and maintain access controls, secrets management, logging, and monitoring with security in mind.
  • Help establish and document security policies and procedures that are practical, not just paperwork.

  • Culture & Collaboration

    • You'll be the sole DevOps person, so we need someone comfortable owning their domain and making decisions who is also comfortable asking questions and bringing the team along.
    • Share knowledge with the wider team. Not everyone needs to be a DevOps expert, but we'd like the dev team to understand the "why" behind the infrastructure decisions.
    • Be proactive. If you spot something that could be better, tell us. If you can fix it, even better.
