Senior Lawyer - Employment Law (Local Government)

Rate: £40 per hour (Inside IR35)

Contract: Temporary – 3+ Months

Location: North West England


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Lawyer with a solid employment law background to join a well‑regarded local authority legal team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality, specialist legal advice across complex and sensitive matters, supporting senior decision‑makers within a large public‑sector environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload within employment law
  • Providing expert legal advice to senior officers and stakeholders
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of legal documents
  • Supporting strategic objectives and contributing to service development
  • Handling high‑value, complex and politically sensitive matters


Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Strong employment law experience, ideally within local government
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, drafting and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced public‑sector setting
