My client, a leading investment management business, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to join its FP&A function and act as the primary finance partner to a major commercial division and its senior leadership team. This role is central to supporting high-quality decision-making through insightful financial analysis, forward-looking forecasts, and clear communication of business performance.

You will play a key role in shaping and constructively challenging business strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve financial performance.

This role offers a significant opportunity to lead and develop a small team, strengthen financial processes, improve the use of systems and automation, and raise standards across planning, reporting and insight. You will also work closely with senior finance leadership on strategic and cross-functional initiatives.

Finance Business Partners in this organisation are expected to build strong relationships, challenge constructively, and translate complex data into practical, actionable insight.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the lead Finance Business Partner to a core business area, partnering closely with senior operational leaders.
• Build trusted, influential relationships across the leadership team and wider organisation.
• Provide challenge and insight in a constructive, solutions-focused manner to support effective decision-making.
• Represent the FP&A function on cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Performance Analysis, Insight & Reporting

• Deliver accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting and analysis to support performance management and forecasting.
• Produce monthly and quarterly performance packs with clear commentary, trend analysis and commercial insight.
• Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

Commercial Modelling & Scenario Analysis

• Develop and maintain robust financial models to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Build scenario-based analyses to assess the financial impact of change, both reactively and proactively.

Process Improvement & Systems Enablement

• Drive continuous improvement of FP&A processes, increasing automation, efficiency and control.
• Promote effective use of systems and analytical tools, identifying opportunities to streamline data and improve insight quality.
• Champion best practice across planning, forecasting and reporting activities.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach and develop two team members, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Provide hands-on support to build capability, improve analytical output and ensure consistent delivery standards,

Ad-Hoc & Strategic Projects

• Support senior leaders and the wider finance team with ad-hoc analysis, business cases and strategic initiatives as required.

Experience & Skills

Essential

• Significant experience in a commercial FP&A or Finance Business Partnering role within a complex organisation.
• Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience.

Technical & Analytical Skills

• Advanced financial modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis capability.
• Strong Excel and presentation skills, with experience handling large and complex datasets.
• Experience using planning, reporting or analytics tools is desirable but not essential.

Interpersonal Skills & Leadership

• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
• Ability to distil complex information into clear, commercially focused insight.
• Experience leading and developing a small team.
