The Vacancy

We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team and play a vital role in keeping our site running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

In this position, you’ll act as the go-to expert for complex mechanical and electrical issues, support continuous improvement across our facilities, and help shape the technical standards we work to. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy fault finding, and want to contribute to major maintenance projects, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

About The Role

As a Senior Maintenance Technician, you will take ownership of ensuring the smooth operation of plant and workshop machinery across the site. You’ll be responsible for executing and overseeing preventative and reactive maintenance activities, whilst taking the lead on solving the most challenging technical issues.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll combine your advanced engineering knowledge with strong analytical skills to drive improvements, reduce downtime, and maintain high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Carry out daily planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns across all plant and workshop equipment.
  • Act as the escalation point for diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Lead fault investigations and root cause analysis to deliver long-term solutions and continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

  • Support risk assessments and permit-to-work processes, ensuring high‑risk or complex tasks are carried out safely.
  • Work closely with the Health & Safety team to review contractor documentation before work begins on site.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and ensure all tasks comply with legal standards, policies, and procedures.

Planning, Coordination & Process Improvement

  • Assist the Maintenance Operations Manager in planning weekly workloads, shutdowns, major overhauls, and improvement projects.
  • Help define maintenance best practices, technical standards, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Analyse recurring faults and make recommendations for redesign, replacement, or process changes.
  • Identify ways to streamline maintenance processes and improve workflow through the CAFM system.

  • Contractor & Supplier Management

    • Lead technical discussions with external contractors and suppliers, agreeing scopes of work and ensuring high standards of delivery.
    • Coordinate on-site activities to support repairs, replacements, or maintenance of plant and workshop machinery.

    Systems & Training

    • Champion accurate use of the CAFM system, ensuring all work orders are logged, updated, and closed correctly.
    • Complete required training to maintain and enhance technical competence.

    Person Specification

    Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience

    • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a maintenance discipline.
    • Skilled in interpreting schematic circuit diagrams and line schematics.
    • Ability to work at height.
    • Willingness to provide out-of-hours standby cover on a 24/7 rota, with flexibility for holiday and sickness cover.
    • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to assess both root cause and wider impact.
  • Ability to use a mobile device for CAFM-based job management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to undergo security clearance.

  • Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience

    • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
    • Electrical maintenance qualification and/or 18th Edition.
    • Knowledge of HAZOP processes.
    • Experience of facility M&E design or commissioning.
    • Background in supporting manufacturing operations teams.
