The Legal Project Management (LPM) team works with our Deloitte Legal colleagues to bring structured governance, matter lifecycle management, and rigorous financial control to the delivery of our legal services. We combine deep project management expertise with an acute understanding of the legal sector, helping embed LPM disciplines into our client service delivery. As a Senior Manager, you will independently manage engagements or major workstreams in large programmes, with appropriate direction from engagement Directors and Partners. You'll serve as a key point of review on all deliverables, develop a broader pipeline of client relationships to support sales, and devote time to coaching junior team members and creating a culture that draws strength from diversity and inclusion.

What you will be working on:

• Independently managing complex end-to-end legal engagements and major workstreams, acting as the senior Deloitte presence on projects and providing structured governance across legal matters
• Building trusted senior client relationships with in-house legal departments, acting as a recognised advisor at senior leadership level on matter management, legal spend governance and operational efficiency
• Actively developing and owning your own sales pipeline, and building your personal brand as an LPM specialist through thought leadership and professional networks
• Taking a leading role in shaping LPM propositions and market positioning, and inspiring high-performing, diverse teams across multiple engagements

What you can expect in your day-to-day role:

• Providing a vision for deliverables, owning key client relationships, and maintaining expert knowledge in LPM tools and frameworks — using PowerPoint, Excel and Legora as core delivery tools, alongside matter management platforms such as HighQ and DocuSign
• Designing and implementing matter governance frameworks, including scope definition, milestone planning, RAID logs, reporting structures and change control processes
• Managing matter budgets and forecasts across complex matters or portfolios, driving transparency in legal spend, supporting alternative fee arrangement (AFA) negotiations and tracking actuals against budget
• Coordinating and managing relationships with outside counsel and other third-party legal service providers, ensuring alignment on scope, cost and delivery expectations
• Communicating proactively and effectively with clients and colleagues, confidently leading meetings, constructing clear narratives, and holding difficult conversations where needed
• Planning and managing engagements on time and within budget, leading teams by setting clear expectations, delegating appropriately, and driving team accountability for delivery

Connect to your skills and professional experience

• Significant experience in legal project management with a strong record of independently managing complex legal matters, with specific experience in the corporate/M&A practice
• Demonstrable understanding of the challenges and requirements of in-house legal departments, including matter lifecycle management, outside counsel management and legal spend governance
• Strong grasp of legal technology and tools, including matter management systems, document management systems and AI-powered legal tools, with the ability to advise clients and team members on adoption and optimisation
• Proven senior client relationship management skills, with experience building trusted advisory relationships across in-house legal departments, and a demonstrable track record in business development
• A confident, considered point of view on complex issues, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and hold difficult conversations with clients and team members
• Strong people leadership experience, with a record of developing and inspiring diverse, multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent commercial acumen including engagement pricing, scoping, budget management and profitability; high proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Legal AI tools such as Legora
