Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6Occupational Therapist to join the established Occupational Therapy team at the Coborn Centre for Adolescent Mental Health. The Coborn Centreis an outstanding service committed to providing a high standard of care to young people and their families..Serving a multi-ethnic population drawn from an area as diverse as its communities, theCoborn Adolescent Serviceprovides in-patient and day-patient care to young people aged 12-18 withcomplexacute mental health problems.The unit is comprised of a twelve beddedAcutein-patient ward, a fourteen bedded Psychiatric intensive care unit and six places in the Day service

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Band 6SpecialistOccupational Therapist who enjoys working with young people, is dedicated, creative and committed to life long learning.Wewill offerexcellent opportunities todevelop clinicaland managerial skills.It is a full-time post and the hours are subject to the needs of the service. Experience of working in a diverse multi-racial community and with young people with complex mental health needs is a benefit.

Person specification

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy state reg
  • Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapy.
  • At least 2 years experience , Band 5/6, in a clinical mental health setting and or demonstrates experience in relevant field.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of developing aspects of a service.
  • To have acquired specialist professional knowledge within the field of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • To have developed specialist knowledge of applied social, health, and medical sciences including psychology, anatomy, physiology and sociology.
  • To have developed specialist knowledge of mental health difficulties and their impact upon functioning and performance.
  • To have knowledge of current National legislation, policies and guidelines. (Mental Health Act 1983 Social Inclusion Unit Policy, National service Framework for Mental Health).
  • Working knowledge of Clinical Governance and its application.
