Senior Pharmacy Technician for homecare / high-cost drugs with Medicines Optimisation

Are you an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician looking to take the next step in your career? The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivatedPharmacy Technician to work within the homecare and theMedicines Optimisation teams.

In this role, you will play a key part in supervisingthe operational aspects of homecare services and for high-cost medication ensuring that processes are followed in line with trust, local and national guidance.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role.

Main duties of the job

1 Additionally; within medicines optimisation , you will help ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines across our hospital. Working closely with pharmacists, nursing staff, prescribers and wider clinical teams, you will support high-quality patient care by delivering accurate medicines reconciliation, improving medicines safety, and helping patients get the most from their medicines.

To deputise for the lead pharmacy technician for homecare in his / her absence.To work with the clinical teams including specialist pharmacists across the trust to maintain and further develop relationships to continuously strive to improve and increase the number of homecare services provided.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

• Working with in a team
• Managing own workload to meet the needs of a service
• Knowledge of dispensary procedures acquired through training & experience
• Working with Pharmacy computer systems
• Previous experience of training others
  
  
  

Desirable

• Knowledge of CMM, the hospital pharmacy computer system
• Able to manage a team on a day-to-day basis
• Previous line management experience
• Educational supervisor experience
• In-depth post qualification experience in a hospital pharmacy
  
  
  

Qualifications Essential

• Additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions, supervising a technical area within the pharmacy to degree or equivalent level

Knowledge of medicines management, including relevant legislation and policies acquired through NVQ3 or BTEC equivalent level qualification plus specialist training and experience to degree or equivalent level
