Role Purpose
Leads the Market Pricing & Insights team, including 2 Pricing Managers and several Analysts, to deliver our market pricing accuracy targets, while ensuring we provide fair value and good outcomes for all customers. Oversees market pricing strategy across motor, using innovative analytics, market insights, and advanced data sources to generate segmented pricing changes. Drives best in class governance and champions analytical excellence across the business.
Key Accountabilities
Setting the segmented market pricing strategy, improving our competitive position and alignment to commercial objectives.
Working closely with Retail, Underwriting, Actuarial & Data Science, Modelling, ML Ops, Data Engineering, and Commercial teams to align market pricing decisions with broader business priorities.
Influencing the modelling strategy and ensuring market models, PCW insights, and internal tools are effectively integrated into pricing decisions.
Analysing PCW data to identify opportunities to improve pricing performance and deliver growth.
Developing and delivering new insights, including integrating new data, adopting innovative techniques, and driving automation to enhance decision making capability.
Prioritising team resources and managing the workstack to deliver high impact outputs at pace.
Critically reviewing technical models produced by the Modelling teams, ensuring robustness, suitability, and fairness.
Determining optimal strategies to combine model outputs and market insights to inform segmented market pricing recommendations.
Identifying meaningful customer segments where market pricing can be improved to drive competitiveness, footprint, or profitability.
Creating/ adapting and maintaining tools that automatically surface pricing opportunities, footprint gaps, or model improvement needs.
Representing Market Pricing on cross functional projects that deliver value for the business.
Supporting the team through coaching, peer reviews, technical guidance, and personal development planning.
Leading and developing a high performing, curious, and analytically strong team.
Ensuring pricing activity meets regulatory expectations and delivers fair and reasonable outcomes for customers.
Knowledge And Skills
Strong general insurance background, ideally in personal lines pricing or market pricing.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced analysis and coding experience (Python preferred; other languages acceptable with willingness to learn).
Curious, inquisitive, and motivated to innovate and drive change.
Ability to think creatively, challenge constructively, and evaluate information critically.
Positive, proactive attitude with appetite to learn and evolve.
Strong collaboration skills; able to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
