An exciting opportunity has arisen to meet the growing portfolio of transport planning projects within one of the UK’s leading independent consultancies. The roles will require working across a range of different projects although the focus will primarily be on meeting our commitments on developing planning projects.

Our ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or above (Transport Planning, Maths, Science, Geography etc.) with significant experience in development led Transport Planning. They should have experience of technically leading the delivery of projects at a variety of scales with minimal supervision with a particular emphasis on implementing a vision-led approach to developing transport strategies. Depending on experience and role, they should be capable mentoring and developing junior staff and taking on responsibility for the management of all aspects of projects.

As a confident communicator verbally and in writing, they will be required to present and communicate their ideas clearly and concisely both internally and also to a wide range of external audiences. Chartership with a relevant professional body would be advantageous but not essential.

They will also have:

Considerable experience in development focused transport planning alongside a full understanding of the planning process in England
The ability to technically lead the production of vision-led Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
Strong technical background with experience of industry specific software (ideally Junctions, Linsig, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, VISSIM)
Knowledge and experience of preparing Travel Demand Models at a variety of scales and using range of different approaches and data sets.

Significant experience of undertaking access feasibility studies and design informed by knowledge and experience of applying design guidance such as LTN 1/20, DMRB, Manual for Streets etc

Excellent communication skills and interface with clients

Ability to train junior staff

Ability to contribute / lead on bids and financial proposals

Excellent Project Management skills
