An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Planner to support the development of a large business case within a central government department. The role will play a key part in driving planning excellence across a complex portfolio.
Operating as a senior member of the delivery function, the postholder will be responsible for championing a structured planning approach across programmes and projects. The role involves leading the integration of multiple levels of plans and dependencies, ensuring that planning standards are embedded, consistently maintained, and aligned across a wide range of high value and technically challenging initiatives. A key aspect of the position includes providing senior leadership with expert forward looking advice to support strategic decision making and effective delivery.
The Senior Project Planner will oversee the full project planning framework, ensuring plans remain robust, accurate and fit for purpose. Responsibilities include managing, developing and assuring planning tools such as scheduling software and enterprise planning suites. The role also leads capability development, supporting colleagues and teams to strengthen planning and scheduling expertise across the organisation.
You will need demonstrable experience in developing, monitoring and controlling plans on complex and high profile programmes, along with significant recent experience working across both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments. Credibility as a senior leader, combined with deep specialist knowledge of planning and scheduling disciplines and expert level proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Project, will be essential. Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills are also required.
