Description
Validus is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our technology team, building Horizon, our award-winning platform used by alternative asset managers for trade execution, portfolio management and risk analysis.

You will work alongside quants, frontend engineers and financial specialists to build systems that power investment decision-making across private equity, private debt and real estate markets.

What You'll Work On


  • Designing and building backend services and APIs powering the Horizon platform
  • Building cloud-native systems on AWS, including event-driven microservices and gRPC services
  • Designing data models for complex financial instruments and portfolios
  • Integrating market data and client datasets into our platform
  • Developing high-performance services in Rust alongside our Python services
  • Working closely with quant, risk and capital markets teams to translate financial requirements into robust systems
  • Improving the performance, observability and reliability of our platform


Tech Stack

We use modern technologies including:


  • Python (FastAPI, Django)
  • Rust for performance-critical services
  • AWS
  • gRPC & event-driven architectures
  • MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB



Requirements


  • Strong experience with Python or another modern programming language
  • Interest in backend systems and distributed architecture
  • Experience working with databases and data modelling
  • Ability to design clean abstractions for complex business domains
  • Curiosity to learn about financial markets and risk modelling


Nice to have:


  • Experience with financial systems or market data
