Job Overview
Band 6 Senior Respiratory Physiologist – Respiratory Investigations Unit (RIU)
We are seeking a motivated and flexible Band 6 Senior Respiratory Physiologist to join our Respiratory Investigations Unit (RIU). The service provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic testing—both invasive and non-invasive—for inpatients and outpatients across multiple sites, including Slough Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), King Edward VII Hospital, Heatherwood Hospital, and Frimley Park Hospital.
The post-holder will be primarily based at the Slough Community Diagnostic Centre, a brand-new, purpose-built two-storey facility located in the heart of Slough. The CDC operates seven days a week and delivers a wide range of diagnostic services, including imaging, cardio-respiratory testing, audiology, phlebotomy, and endoscopy, supporting the healthcare needs of the local population and surrounding areas.
Applicants should be aware that CDC working patterns may include extended shifts (up to 12 hours), weekend working, and rotation across sites.
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, adaptable, and approachable, with a strong commitment to patient care. You will join a dedicated and experienced team of physiologists, working alongside trainees in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Main duties of the job
Perform routine lung function testing and sleep diagnostics across a range of clinical settings, working with appropriate supervision where required.
Deliver accurate and reliable diagnostic investigations, working independently within agreed competencies and protocols.
Ensure the safe use, routine maintenance, and quality assurance of all equipment within the service.
Support the Chief Respiratory Physiologist in the delivery of Respiratory and Sleep services, deputising when necessary.
Assist in the supervision, training, and mentoring of junior staff and trainees within the department.

Ability to independently Analyse, interpretation and compare a range of diagnostic options to produce accurate diagnostic results

Demonstrate clear concise written and verbal communication skills at all levels to enable liaison with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team
