Job title: Senior Service Designer
A bit about us:
Liverpool is home to vibrant, energetic, and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making our city a better place. We've got ambitious targets to meet and we need people who are driven, dynamic and ready to deliver the very best for our communities. Public service is more important than ever, and this role represents a real opportunity to make a difference to our communities by transforming the way we work and placing our residents at the heart of everything we do.
Working at Liverpool City Council provides an opportunity to contribute to your community and make a positive impact on the lives of residents. Our values shape how we work to deliver public services, and how we communicate with the residents we serve. We care about the best outcomes for local people, through our public services.
We are proud of our world-famous thriving city with its rich culture, as well as affordable housing, good schools, beautiful green spaces – there’s really something for everyone!
The role:
Liverpool City Council is delivering an ambitious Customer Experience Programme that will transform how we serve our residents. To support this, we are recruiting a Senior Service Designer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our services.
A major deliverable within the programme is the rollout of a new case management system, already successfully implemented within our Pest Control service. As Senior Service Designer, your primary focus will be to redesign additional Council services so they can adopt this system and deliver a seamless, user-‑centred customer journey. The role will report to a Transformation Programme Manager and will include line management responsibility for a Service Designer.
You will have the opportunity to drive meaningful, organisation-wide‑wide improvements. Working closely with directorate leads, heads of service and senior stakeholders, you will challenge existing ways of working and recommend process changes that make best use of available technology and support more efficient, modern service delivery.
We’re looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about improving public services. You will bring strong experience in service design, confidence in influencing senior stakeholders, and the ability to quickly understand and apply our case management system.
Due to the programme’s pace, we particularly welcome applications from candidates who are immediately available or have shorter notice periods.
This role is fixed term to provide support on the Customer Programme within the Transformation Team and the work will be completed within 2 years.
