About The Role
Amazing infrastructure isn’t the only thing that gets built here. Incredible careers do too. Join Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering as a Senior Contracts Engineer on the ASTI project in Elgin and you can play a key role in delivering complex piling and geotechnical solutions that support some of Scotland’s most significant infrastructure works. Working with a highly experienced team, you’ll help deliver technically challenging projects while continuing to develop your expertise within a leading specialist contractor.
As Senior Contracts Engineer, you will take a leading role in the planning, design, and delivery of piling works across the project. You will oversee the civil piling aspects through the planning, design, and construction phases, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and operational teams, you will help coordinate project activities, review designs and specifications, and ensure all engineering activities align with contractual requirements and the project management plan.
What you'll be doing
The role will involve developing and reviewing project plans, specifications, and cost estimates, while also supporting effective coordination between design teams, site teams, and other engineering disciplines. You will carry out site inspections and technical assessments to ensure compliance with project specificat

You will also play an important part in supporting and mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance and helping to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Preparing and presenting technical reports, proposals, and project updates to stakeholders will form part of your responsibilities, alongside reviewing construction method statements to ensure works are carried out safely and efficiently. In addition, you will oversee internal teams and subcontractors to ensure resources are managed effectively and that works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Who we're looking for
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have experience working for a piling, ground engineering, or civil engineering subcontractor and hold a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification. You will have at least five years’ experience within the construction industry and a proven track record of successfully delivering civil engineering projects of varying scale.
Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively both verbally and in writing with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all levels. You will also be comfortable using engineering and project management software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoin
t. The role requires someone who can manage multiple teams and project costs effectively while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Candidates should also hold SMSTS or SSSTS certification and possess a valid CSCS card.
