Senior Social Worker – Kinship - Slough - £40.80 Hourly

As a Senior Social Worker, you will ensure that children placed with Regulation 24 Family and Friends foster carers are safeguarded. You will also make sure that foster carers are well-informed of their responsibilities according to standards, regulations, and procedures, all while providing guidance and support. You must be Social Work England registered, with a professional social work qualification and substantial post-qualification experience in fostering, along with an understanding and experience of the Special Guardianship Order (SGO) process and assessments.

What you will do:

Ensure children placed in foster care are well protected and foster carers understand their roles fully.
Build and maintain positive relationships with foster carers and the children in their care.

Supervise a caseload of foster carers, providing assessments and ensuring adherence to timelines and standards.

Engage in direct work with children to understand their experiences within the placement.

Provide support and guidance to foster carers in managing children's challenging behaviour and emotional needs.

Coordinate planned breaks for foster carers and ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.

Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to incorporate the child's voice in all care aspects.

Manage and report concerns, responding to care plans and facilitating changes for children’s best interests.

Ensure foster carers receive relevant training and resources for effective caregiving, focusing on children’s education and future preparation.

Maintain and update relevant administrative systems and reports in a timely manner.

Participate actively in supervision, appraisals, and team meetings, providing office and out-of-hours duty cover as required.

Uphold safeguarding practices and adhere to all Slough Children First policies and national legislation.
