My client is a leading private markets investment firm undergoing a major technology transformation across software engineering, data platforms and artificial intelligence.
They are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer into a small, highly visible technology team supporting the firm's investment, finance and operational functions. This is a genuinely broad role where you'll work directly with senior stakeholders across the business, owning projects from design through to deployment and helping shape how technology evolves across the organisation.
The work spans full-stack application development, Azure data engineering, reporting, third-party integrations, process automation and emerging AI initiatives. You'll be responsible for building and enhancing business-critical systems, developing APIs and data models, modernising reporting and ETL processes, and identifying opportunities to leverage AI across the firm's operations.
The business is investing heavily in AI-assisted engineering and modern development practices, with engineers actively using tools such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex to accelerate delivery, improve quality and build AI-enabled solutions.
The technology environment includes C#, .NET, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Power BI, CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud-based data platforms.
The firm is looking for engineers who have:
• Strong C#/.NET development experience
• Experience building full-stack applications, APIs and business systems
• Strong SQL Server / Azure SQL expertise
• Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data platforms
• Experience delivering projects across the full SDLC
• Familiarity with source control, branching strategies and CI/CD deployment pipelines
• Experience using AI tools to improve software development workflows
• The ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate requirements into practical technical solutions
Experience within Private Equity, Asset Management, Financial Services or other regulated industries would be highly beneficial. Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Power BI, Function Apps, Power Automate, AI agents, MCP servers, test automation and broader Azure technologies would also be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering and data engineering capabilities with commercial awareness, intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in understanding how investment businesses operate. You'll be comfortable working directly with stakeholders, taking ownership of complex problems and using technology, data and AI to drive meaningful business outcomes.
The firm offers a highly competitive compensation package, hybrid working and the opportunity to play a highly visible role within a growing private markets investment platform. You'll work across software engineering, cloud, data and AI initiatives, partnering directly with investment, finance and operations teams while helping shape the firm's next generation of technology capabilities.
For an engineer who values ownership, autonomy and impact, this represents an opportunity to become a trusted technology partner to the business rather than simply another developer within a large engineering organisation.
