The Specialist Behavioural Support Service (SBSS) is part of the Community Learning Disability Service and works with children and adults with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge across BCUHB and the six local authority areas of North Wales.
The SBSS uses the model of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to conduct behavioural assessments to determine the underlying functions of behaviours that challenge and develop effective intervention plans.
SBSS works closely with the Community Learning Disability Teams to identify people who use the service who may be vulnerable to destabilisation as a consequence of behaviours that challenge which may lead to out of area placements
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as link practitioner into the Community Learning Disability Teams in adult and children’s services across the six geographical areas of North Wales.
- The post holder will perform a number of tasks to increase the effectiveness of services for people with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge through proactive strategies including:
- The early identification and prevention of behaviours that challenge
- The prevention and management of crises related to behaviours that challenge and maintaining service users close to home
- Delivering Positive Behaviour Support approaches to work effectively with people with behaviours that challenge.
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and management of staff. The role includes the setting and maintaining of clinical standards within the governance framework, and the motivation and leadership of team members in reaching specific Key Performance Indicators as determined by the Community Service Manager.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
