About The Role

Reporting to the Test Programme Manager, the Test & Release Manager is responsible for the implementation of the Sonata platform for our clients. You will play a critical role within a layered, multi-disciplinary team, ensuring all aspects of testing, defect management, and release delivery are executed to the highest standard. This role requires strong client collaboration, governance leadership, and hands-on ownership of incident and triage processes. If you are a confident consultative Test Leader who thrives in a client facing environment and understands how to balance quality, governance and commercial delivery, then this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

Relationship Management


  • Partner closely with clients to ensure clarity and alignment on testing, defect management and release processes.
  • Collaborate with internal Test Practice Leads, Test Managers, Lead Business Consultants and Development teams to prioritise defects, allocate resources and streamline efficiencies.
  • Monitor overall client test progress and proactively raise risks or issues.
  • Agree release scope with clients and manage delivery through to completion.


Reporting, Governance & Strategy


  • Own, develop and deliver client specific test strategies, including approach, plans, incident management and test phase exit & entry criteria.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and effective governance across all testing activities.
  • Manage internal and client-facing reporting on release scope, progress, and incidents.
  • Drive adherence to best practice testing principles and continuous improvement.


Incident Management & Triage


  • Take full ownership of defects and incidents throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and manage triage processes, ensuring quality and completeness of defect information.
  • Collaborate with client facing developers to streamline defect resolution and prioritisation.
  • Monitor and improve the quality of the triage process.

    To be successful in this role, your background and experience will include:


    • 6+ years experience as a Test Manager within a consulting, technology or financial services environment.
    • Proven experience leading testing teams within commercial software implementations.
    • Educated to degree level in a science, engineering or mathematical subject.
    • Strong knowledge of structured testing techniques and the software development lifecycle.
    • Experience working within successful technology implementation programmes.
    • Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation skills with a strong commitment to drive quality and improvements.
    • Experience of market retail savings and investment products.
    • Commercial awareness including effort estimation and budget management.
    • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to work on-site at client offices when required.
