Description

We are currently working in partnership with a ministerial department, who are recruiting for a Service Information Rights Lead on a permanent basis.


Our client is looking to interview in August with a view to be in post by September, however can wait for notice for the right candidate.


The total salary is £48,200, including a £5,000 London allowance. This role can be done predominantly remotely, but will require some office presence in Whitehall.


The ideal candidate will have Central Government experience, but the client is open to looking at experience gained in other fields.

The successful candidate will not be able to start without a successful security check being taken out.


Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing advice and support to the customer on complex cases
  • Acting as the lead adviser on responses for the customer on centralised Internal Reviews and Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) complaints
  • Providing feedback and sharing of best practice on case management in terms of FOIs and Data Protection
  • Acting as the subject matter adviser where cases are under appeal to the Information Tribunal
  • Providing advice and guidance to customer senior stakeholders including Private Offices, SPADs and other senior leaders as required
  • Leading on complex casework working with senior collaborators and engaging directly with the ICO and lawyers acting for the customer
  • Functioning as the subject matter representative on behalf of the customer on cross-Whitehall liaison issues, including Cabinet Office and ICO Liaison meetings as necessary
  • Acted as the point of Contact for Sensitivity Reviewers supporting the work of the customer’s Information Rights Unit. Analysis and presentation of Management Information to the Senior Sensitivity Reviewer, Head of SR Service, and senior stakeholders


Experience required:

  • Exceptional knowledge of information rights legislation (FOIA/DPA/GDPR)
  • Extensive experience in data privacy laws and regulations
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communications skills


Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
