There's a permanent opportunity for a Shift Supervisor to join our Selfridges contract in Central London, Oxford Street
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the effective management and coordination of shift operations, ensuring engineering teams, subcontractors, and support functions operate efficiently to achieve contractual KPIs, SLAs, and statutory compliance obligations.
The Role
Operational Leadership & Service Delivery
Manage and coordinate all shift-based engineering activities across planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and emergency response works.
Ensure contractual KPIs and SLAs are consistently achieved across all operational activities.
Maintain operational oversight of engineering workload allocation and prioritisation across shift teams.
Ensure effective shift handovers are completed and operational risks are communicated appropriately.
Support operational continuity across the contract during periods of business-critical activity.
Team Leadership & People Management
Provide direct leadership, supervision, and operational management of engineering teams on shift.
Support development of a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
Conduct probation reviews, performance management discussions, return to work meetings, and disciplinary processes where required.
Monitor engineering performance, attendance, conduct, and productivity.
Ensure engineers operate in accordance with company procedures, safe systems of work, and contractual standards.
Support development and mentoring of Working Lead Engineers and engineering staff.
Ensure toolbox talks, operational briefings, and team communications are delivered effectively.
CAFM, SLA & Operational Governance
Maintain operational oversight of CAFM systems (Aurora) to ensure jobs are managed accurately and in real time.
Ensure reactive works are actively managed to minimise SLA jeopardy and breach risks.
Monitor Level of Completion (LoC) updates to maintain reporting integrity and operational visibility.
Ensure all engineering updates, closure narratives, and task records meet contractual and audit requirements.
Support reporting and analysis of operational performance trends, risks, and service delivery issues.
Drive proactive management of overdue and at-risk works.
Compliance, QSHE & Governance
Ensure all works are completed in accordance with RAMS, company procedures, statutory requirements, and client governance processes.
Maintain oversight of Limitations of Access (LoA) controls and site access governance.
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across operational teams.
Ensure compliance inspections, audits, and statutory activities are completed in line with contractual requirements.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and operational non-conformances where required.
Ensure engineering teams maintain accurate compliance documentation and records.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary operational contact for client representatives during shift operations.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with client stakeholders and end users.
Provide operational updates regarding incidents, service delivery issues, compliance matters, and business-critical activities.
Ensure operational issues are managed professionally within a live retail environment with minimal disruption to the client.
Support Account Managers with operational reporting and client-facing updates.
Commercial & Resource Management
Support effective control of labour utilisation, overtime, subcontractor management, and operational costs.
Ensure chargeable works and operational variations are identified and escalated appropriately.
Support efficient deployment of engineering resources to maximise productivity and service delivery performance.
Maintain awareness of operational impacts on contract margin and performance.
Subcontractor Management
Coordinate and oversee specialist subcontractors operating on site.
Ensure subcontractor activities are completed safely, compliantly, and to the required standard.
Verify completion of works and support operational sign-off processes.
Ensure subcontractors comply with site procedures, RAMS, and client requirements.
Hours of Work
4 on, 4 off shifts, 7am-7pm/7pm-7am

Qualifications And Experience Required
Good understanding of CAFM systems (e.g. Aurora, Concept, Maximo).
City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical/Mechanical Qualification (or equivalent).
Previous supervisory or leadership experience within Facilities Management.
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent (Desirable).
ILM Level 3 or equivalent leadership qualification (Desirable).
CAFM systems experience (Desirable).
Experience within a supervisory or operational management role within Facilities Management.
Experience managing engineering teams within a live client-facing environment.
Experience operating within a technically complex building services environment.
