JDR Recruitment are recruiting a Site Manager for their client

Location: Whitchurch, Shropshire (SY13)

Salary: £40,000 per annum plus annual bonus

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (flexibility required including weekends and bank holidays)

Contract Type: Permanent

The Role

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the Whitchurch site, overseeing staff, equipment and operational resources.
  • Ensure the efficient delivery, servicing and collection of hire products and related services.
  • Oversee booking systems, job allocation and driver route planning using internal computer systems.
  • Manage and support site staff to ensure duties are carried out efficiently and high levels of customer service are maintained.
  • Plan and coordinate weekend and seasonal peak workloads, including managing holidays and absence cover.
  • Ensure vehicle fleet and site machinery remain compliant with all regulations, including HGV 6-weekly checks, tachographs, MOTs and LOLER requirements.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient turnaround of hire units, including receiving, emptying, cleaning, maintaining and repairing units to a high standard.
  • Ensure trailer running gear and associated equipment are properly inspected and maintained.
  • Ensure the site remains safe, clean and compliant, with fire safety equipment fully operational.
  • Oversee administrative and office-based duties to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer communication.
  • Support sales, administrative and commercial activities to maintain strong customer relationships and contribute to business growth.
  • Take full responsibility for site health & safety and regulatory compliance, ensuring staff are trained, use PPE correctly and adhere to all RAMS and procedures.
  • Manage stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of consumables and PPE.
  • Respond promptly to accidents, breakdowns or emergencies, ensuring incidents are reported and investigated thoroughly.
  • Provide additional operational support as required.

  • Experience / Skills Required

    • Previous experience in a Site Manager, Depot Manager or Operations Management role (service-based environment preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and site compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing vehicle fleets and regulatory requirements (HGV, tachographs, MOT, LOLER).
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan workloads effectively, particularly during peak periods.
  • Confident using computer systems for job allocation, scheduling and reporting.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work flexibly including weekends and bank holidays when required.
