The Role

As a Welder, you’ll be part of a world-leading team specialising in high-integrity welding for the defence industry. Your work will directly contribute to projects that protect national security and support critical infrastructure. This is an opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic environment, working on complex assemblies that demand precision and excellence.

As a skilled Welder you will be working in a small but highly effective team where the highest of standards will be expected from both a technical and behavioural perspective.

Day-to-day, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Welding of large high strength quenched and tempered Steel assemblies for the defence industry.
  • Welding of assemblies used for lifting and handling in the defence industry.
  • Welds are subject to full NDT including volumetric Ultrasonic and radiographic examination.
  • Welding using manual, mechanised and automatic (Robotic) welding processes


  • You will be someone for whom collaboration and teamwork comes naturally. You will be a self-starter who wants to make a positive impact on a daily basis.

    This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Ashton Vale, Bristol.

    Essential Experience Of The Welder

    • Time served apprenticeship or similar in welding/fabrication.
    • Evidence of previously held codings to recognised European/American standards and working to high quality standards.
    • Capable of reading complex fabrication drawings.
    • Experience of positional welding using FCAW and solid Wire pulse MAG is essential.
    • Experience of welding in the defence industry is desirable.


    Qualifications For The Welder

    Security Clearance

    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
