Software Engineer Manager, Google Events

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience in Application programming Interface (API) design and development, with managing relational databases and writing SQL queries.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience with working in a matrixed organization.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

RSVP is the go-to event management tool for teams across Alphabet, used for everything from flagship events to intimate local workshops. The platform enables Google employees to create beautiful event websites, manage guest lists and registrations, send branded emails, run engaging virtual and in-person sessions, and analyze event success.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack engineers developing the RSVP platform.
• Define and drive the team's technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for key platform components, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Oversee project execution, promoting engineering excellence in design, development (e.g., Spanner and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)), and operations.

Collaborate with Product, User Experience (UX), and other engineering teams to translate goals into features.

Manage team performance, support career development, and contribute to hiring. Take ownership of service health and operational excellence.
