Typical Activities
Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Project Management, the Software Engineering Manager will balance hands-on technical delivery with people leadership and capability development.
- Design and develop production-quality software, spending 60-70% of time hands-on coding
- Strong background in software engineering within a product development environment
- Proven experience balancing hands-on development with people management
- Experience working in regulated and/or secure environments
- Expertise in modern software engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, code review)
- Ability to plan and estimate technical work, managing risk and constraints
- Experience eliciting and interpreting requirements and shaping ambiguous problems
- Experience programming in real-time C
- Knowledge of Go, Rust, or modern web application frameworks
- Experience with Python-based UI development (e.g. wxPython, Qt)
- Familiarity with embedded systems debugging and test equipment
- Exposure to fuzzing, static, and dynamic analysis tools

To Be Eligible For This Position You Must
- Have significant professional experience in software engineering (including hands-on development); and
- Be a British citizen; and
- Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) at SC level (DV desirable).
