Jones Whyte is proud to have been recognised as the Scottish Top Employer of the Year at The Herald and s1jobs Top Employer Awards 2025. This award reflects our commitment to creating a workplace where people thrive — one that values career development, wellbeing, inclusivity, innovation, and community impact. As a firm, we’re dedicated to fostering an environment where every team member feels supported, empowered, and part of something meaningful.
As we expand, we’re looking for a talented Solicitor to play a pivotal role in our Private Client department’s success. This is your chance to shine, bring your expertise, and grow alongside a company that’s invested in your development. We value innovation, independence, and accountability — and we’ll empower you to make a real impact.
The Role:
Ross Anderson and Stephanie Hutton lead our Private Client department, which is comprised of Associates, Senior Solicitors, Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and accredited Paralegals. The team is further supported by experienced Legal Assistants who provide dedicated administrative assistance. As Ross and Stephanie are dual-qualified in both Scots and English law, the department delivers a broad range of services to clients across Great Britain. Specialisation within Private Client is encouraged, and we actively promote cross-referral of work with complementary departments to enhance collaboration and strengthen client relationships.
This role offers the opportunity to work both autonomously and collaboratively, supported by experienced Solicitors and Paralegals, enabling you to develop and progress professionally within a supportive environment.
Candidates must be strong team players with excellent communication and technical abilities. Previous Private Client experience is essential. We maintain close working relationships with our clients, alongside an established network of experts across relevant disciplines. The position provides a clear pathway for personal and professional growth within the firm, supported by promotion opportunities and ongoing capability development.
You will benefit from a high level of client and team interaction, taking personal responsibility for managing a varied and often complex caseload while working closely with the responsible Partner and supervising Solicitor. You will join a partner-led team of legal professionals with diverse expertise and a shared commitment to delivering outstanding client service — a core priority across the firm.
We are open to this role being based out of our Edinburgh or Glasgow office with hybrid working offered.
