Specialist Dietitian in Diabetes

Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Community Dietitian to join our supportive Community Dietetics Team. This role is ideal for someone eager to develop specialist skills in the dietary management of Type 2 and gestational diabetes while making a real impact in the community.

You will manage your own caseload, providing high‑quality 1:1 consultations across outpatient, community and remote settings, as well as delivering engaging group education sessions. Strong communication and behaviour‑change skills will help you empower patients to better understand and self‑manage their diabetes.

We are seeking a Dietitian who is keen to learn, proactive in improving practice and passionate about enhancing patient experience. You will contribute to service development through audit, evaluation and use of patient feedback, and work closely with diabetes specialist colleagues and the wider MDT.

Main duties of the job

• Responsible for a defined clinical case load of adult patients, with Type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes who may have other clinical conditions and needs.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria

• HCPC registered
• Relevant qualification in Dietetics
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Post registration qualifications or training in diabetes or communication and behaviour change skills.
• Clinical Supervisory skills training or alternative evidence of training to supervise student dietitians
• Leadership or quality improvement training
  
  

Knowledge & experience

Essential criteria

• Experience of working with patients with diabetes
• Facilitating groups and teaching in different settings
• Behaviour change/ motivational interviewing.
• Evidence of personal participation in clinical governance issues in relation to dietetic practice
• Experience of active participation in audit activities or service evaluation in dietetic practice

• Experience of supervising/supporting staff and students
