Specialist Education Mental Health Team Leader to work in the Mental Health Support Team (Reflexions)

Band 7 37.5hrs

The post is based in Wolverhampton but the postholder must be able to work across the Black Country as and when required.

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with proven leadership and staff management skills to join our service and work closely with the Clinical Leaders to oversee the Wolverhampton team within the Black Country MHST model.

As part of the MHST Management team you would be responsible for supporting governance arrangements and development of the team alongside as well as providing case management supervision for many different professionals including CBT Therapists and EMHP's. You will be responsible for helping shape and develop the service and will also hold a small clinical caseload of your own.

The Mental Health Support Team In Schools enables those working within it to progress within the field of young people's mental health and wellbeing with a focus on development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing and the think family approaches within the school environment. The Mental Health Support Team provide 1:1 interventions for mild to moderate mental health presentations, group work, guided self-help, parent support and whole school approaches.

Job description

Applicants should be experienced in children and young persons mental health at a senior level with the required leadership and clinical skills to support the Mental Health Support Team. Experience of recent working with schools and delivering mental health promotional collaborative work in such an arena is beneficial in order to be able to fulfill the role.

Criteria

Essential

  • Core profession (HCPC, Social Care, Nursing or recognised degree level or broad based health and social care qualification which will require completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and attributes).
  • Post graduate (Masters and above) level study.
  • Management of staff experience including supervision and sickness/performance montioring.
  • Experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with mental health problems.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems, across the whole age range, reflecting all levels of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal and physical abuse.
  • Able to travel across the Black Country easily.

Desirable

  • Qualification and registration in CBT.
  • CYPIAPT Supervisor training for high intensity CBT required or willing to undertake.

About the employer

The postholder will be:

Jointly operationally responsible for the Mental Health Support Team in Wolverhampton and the associated KPI's

Operationally responsible for the Wolverhampton team which would include line management responsibilities such as managing performance, approving annual leave, managing attendance, annual appraisals, management and caseload supervision, training requirements and along with the Clinical Leaders would monitor the flow and allocation of cases

Participating in their own appraisal and respond to agree objectives which would include job planning and outcomes, this would also include maintaining the standards connected to your own professional practice

Able to hold a small clinical caseload and be a point of contact for educations settings and school staff for areas of practice that require escalation or reassurance

Contributing to the development of strategic developments and leading change within their own team and across the Black Country where required

Participating in departmental audits and be able to evaluate the outcome of interventions with young people and parents using routine outcome measures

Ensuring any risks or issues related to wellbeing or safety of any individual in which the post holder comes into contact with during their professional duties are effectively communicated with appropriate persons and managed
