SEND Inclusion services wish to appoint a qualified, highly motivated, and experienced Early Years Specialist Teaching Assistant to work with children with severe and complex needs from birth to seven years in a variety of environments including homes, Early Years Settings and Mainstream Schools. The successful candidates will provide advice, strategies, training and direct individual teaching to meet children’s needs.

The service supports children with a variety of complex SEND needs including Autism so knowledge and extensive experience in this area is essential, as is an ability to develop excellent working relationships with families and professionals alike. You should also have a sound working knowledge of the EYFS and experience with small steps teaching programmes and specialist assessments to support the learning of young children with SEND. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience and at least 2 of these should be working with young children with SEND.

The 32.5 hour post will cover work in the Mansfield and Ashfield area and will be based at Meadow House in Mansfield. However, team members may also be required to work in other areas of the County in accordance with Service need so applicants must be prepared to be flexible to the needs of the families we support.

The nature of the work is peripatetic and requires a considerable amount of traveling throughout the day therefore a full driving licence and daily use of a car is essential. (travelling expenses will be reimbursed at the appropriate rate). The posts will have the same working pattern as Nottinghamshire Schools.

For further information and an informal discussion please contact Angela Wright, on 07545 636444 or email [email protected]

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
