Job Overview

We are seeking a Specialty Doctor to join the Diabetes and Endocrine team in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) on a substantive (10 x sessions) basis. This post will be located within the West Integrated Health Community and will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team which they will support to deliver a full Diabetes and Endocrine service to the local population.

The post holder will support inpatient and outpatient activities held by the department and will join the General Medicine on-call rota.

The post holder will be provided with opportunity to learn and develop their skills and knowledge to support career progression, this will be jointly supervised by the Consultants and their colleagues.

  • CPD up to date
  • Evidence of training of others as part of self-development
  • Keen to provide evidence of competence progression as per speciality curriculum
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel between sites
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks

Desirable criteria

  • Keen to develop teaching of clinical skills
  • Proficient in statistical analysis packages
  • Good clinical practice training
  • Awareness of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Welsh Language

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MRCP Part 1

Skills And Experience

Essential criteria

  • The post holder must be a qualified medical practitioner, and completed foundation program
  • Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty
