About RTN Mental Health

At RTN Mental Health, we’re on a mission to transform the way neurodevelopmental and primary care mental health services are delivered across the UK. As a dynamic and rapidly expanding organisation, we combine clinical excellence with commercial innovation to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

From NHS partnerships to private services, we’re redefining what accessible, ethical and effective mental health support can look like — and building clinical pathways that are robust, evidence-based and genuinely life-changing.

Our values sit at the heart of everything we do:

Respect at our core, transformation in our actions, nurture in our care.

The Role

We’re seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary diagnostic team, providing specialist expertise in communication and social interaction as part of our Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment pathway. This is a specialist clinical role within a fast-growing, values-led organisation. Working remotely, you’ll conduct detailed assessments of social communication, pragmatic language and interaction profiles, contributing directly to high-quality diagnostic decision-making within a multidisciplinary framework.

We welcome applications from both experienced clinicians and newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists who can demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, a commitment to neuroaffirmative practice and a genuine interest in neurodevelopmental assessment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our ASD diagnostic pathways remain robust, evidence-based and person-centred, with reports that clearly recognise both strengths and support needs. The role requires attention to detail, curiosity, and confidence in identifying subtle or masked presentations, supported by supervision and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Role Responsibilities

Specialist Autism Diagnostic Assessment

  • Conduct structured speech, language and social communication assessments as part of ASD diagnostic pathways
  • Deliver and score standardised tools (e.g. ADOS-2) where trained and competent
  • Assess pragmatic language, social interaction and communication differences relevant to ASD diagnostic criteria
  • Contribute findings to multidisciplinary diagnostic formulation discussions

Clinical Documentation & Reporting

  • Produce high-quality, structured diagnostic reports
  • Clearly communicate communication strengths and differences
  • Ensure reports are neuroaffirmative, accessible and evidence-based
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and organisational standards

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists and clinicians within the MDT
  • Contribute meaningfully to shared clinical reasoning and diagnostic decisions
  • Communicate professionally within a fully remote working environment

Patient Experience & Communication Adjustments

  • Deliver strengths-based, accessible feedback to individuals and families
  • Identify and implement reasonable communication adjustments
  • Promote inclusive, neuroaffirmative practice
  • Recognise and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately

Professional Practice & Development

  • Maintain active HCPC registration and professional standards
  • Engage in supervision and CPD
  • Work autonomously within scope of competence
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NICE guidance relating to autism

    • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary assessments
    • Strong report-writing and clinical formulation skills
    • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and compassionately
    • Confident working autonomously in a remote setting
    • Degree (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy

    Desirable

    • Experience contributing directly to autism diagnostic assessments
    • ADOS-2 training
    • Experience delivering remote assessments
    • Experience in schools, LD services, ND services or specialist ASD services
  • Experience within independent/private healthcare settings
  • Postgraduate training in autism or neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as ADOS-2 or ADI-R
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches

  • Our Values in Action

    Respect

We listen with empathy, value lived experience and communicate with honesty and care. We celebrate individuality and practise inclusive, neuroaffirmative communication.

    Transformation

We stay curious, embrace change and turn learning into action. We take ownership, pursue excellence and build trust through transparency.

    Nurture

We create emotionally safe spaces, empower confidence and invest in people’s growth. Compassion and presence guide how we work with both colleagues and patients.
