We are looking for a brilliant, creative, curious, and technically ambitious Staff Frontend Software Engineer to join our team. This team delivers internal and customer-facing web applications to manage complex ad campaigns and provide deep reporting, analytics, and data visualisation capabilities powered by big data and machine learning technologies. Geospatial data is at the heart of what we do, and this team helps make it beautiful, useful, and inspiring. As a tech-first product company, this team works on what's visible and matters to customers and the business!
Staff Software Engineers at Blis are technical leaders who shape what we build and how we build it, they’re not just code committers. You'll set architectural direction, define the standards and practices other engineers build on, and bring deep craft and broad perspective to every layer of the frontend platform. We discuss 'why' as much as 'what' and 'how', because we want you to help define our future, not just deliver it. You'll work across teams with engineers, data scientists, and product managers, and your influence will be felt in the systems, decisions, and people you leave better than you found them. And, of course, you’ll also get to write great code. We lean into Lean Development principles and value engineers who think in systems, identify leverage, and grow the people around them through mentorship, honest collaboration, and leading by example.
The Role
- Own the frontend architecture; shaping architecture decisions that span multiple areas of our product, making foundational decisions around performance, scalability, accessibility, and design systems.
- Set the standard for frontend engineering quality; establish patterns, tooling, and practices that the whole organisation follows.
- Shape and maintain a technical roadmap for the frontend platform aligned with product and business goals.
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives, collaborating with our Product, Design, and backend engineering teams to define and deliver major features.
