The ED team at Royal Blackburn are looking to recruit Band 5 Paediatric staff nurses to join our busy and ever expanding team.
We are a very busy department, covering a very diverse population, and we are also a major trauma unit.
We are looking for self-motivated nurses to help take the department forward - you must be committed, flexible, caring and approachable.
This post is for our Paediatric area and you must be a registered NMC Paediatric Nurse to apply, however at times you may be asked to be flexible and support your colleagues in all areas of the Emergency Department Footprint, ED majors, Resus, UTC. This gives you opportunity to develop your skills further within the department, with support from our Practice Educator Team.
The department welcomes new members of staff and has an open and friendly culture which is strongly supportive of nursing development and expansion of skills.
You will have a suitable period of supernumerary in which you will be supported by a mentor.
Our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital provides care for both adults and children who attend with serious illness or injury.
The main department has an 8 bedded resuscitation and 43 major cubicles.
We have a separate Paediatric ED. The Emergency Department footprint is currently expanding and this includes the Paediatric ED.
The department is classified as a trauma unit and we have a purpose built helipad onsite that will bring our most serious patients to the department via North West Air Ambulance.
We also have 2 Urgent Treatment Centres that are part of the Emergency Department and a Minor Injuries Unit which is located at Accrington Acorn Centre.
We have a new, state of the art staff facility for staff changing with access to a shower, as well as a new staff room, education room and wellbeing retreat for all staff.
