The world is facing a nature crisis. We have lost 85% of the world’s wetlands, 35% of its forests and 65% of its living creatures. Action on nature is the next frontier for sustainability, as the world has to move beyond net zero to nature positive future. Natcap is on a mission to accelerate the nature-positive transition by integrating nature intelligence into business decision-making. We support the world's leading companies to prioritise, measure and act on nature impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities.
We’re seeking an exceptional Platform Engineer to bring depth, experience and momentum to our engineering team. We’re a scaling company with a small (<10), highly hands-on engineering team - everyone builds, ships, and owns outcomes. We’re looking for an experienced doer: someone with deep infrastructure, software- and data-engineering tooling expertise who takes pride in delivering, completing, and improving systems in a practical, hands-on way. There’s real scope for impact, whether you’re ambitious and eager to shape our infrastructure as we scale, or a seasoned engineer ready to apply your experience to mature and strengthen our stack and operations.
You will work alongside colleagues in Product, Design, Delivery, Science, and Engineering to develop a top-tier product that is easy to use, performs well, and maintains high security. Your role will involve comprehensive engagement across our product and data platform. You will quickly gain expertise in our domain - ecology & biodiversity, nature regulation, and reporting frameworks - and communicate effectively with other teams.
This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills to combat the nature crisis in a highly impactful position that will shape the nature platform we are building at Natcap.
What you’ll do in this role:
You will support our software engineering team (smart, proactive, experienced and established yet always keen to learn) by working alongside them. The projects may be infrastructure driven (e.g. private networking, cost optimisation, scalability adjustments) or software-delivery driven (CI/CD, automation of data processing, communication between different stack elements to achieve desired functionality).
The following skills and knowledge will come useful every week:
