About The Role
As the Staff Wellbeing Advisor, you will support the Health Safety and Wellbeing team with staff health and wellbeing advice and be a key contact between the Division/School and the divisional function. You will collaborate with stakeholders and other colleagues across the division and the wider University.
You will deliver the wellbeing elements of the current People Strategy through the Health Safety and Wellbeing Plan and support the employee wellbeing priorities within the University’s Sussex 2035 Strategy. These strategies aim to make Sussex an employer of choice for ambitious, creative and forward‑thinking people, where diversity of background, identity, belief and thought is genuinely valued.
You will ensure our wellbeing framework remains aligned with our organisational values and purpose, and that our wellbeing offer is inclusive, responsive to staff needs, and effectively engages employees across our four wellbeing pillars: social, mental, physical and financial wellbeing. You will manage and utilise the occupational health contract to ensure employees get access to the best possible health and wellbeing offer, quality of service and the service provides best value for money.
About You
We’re seeking a candidate with broad knowledge of workplace health and wellbeing, including an understanding of managing occupational health, sector best practice and relevant legislation, and delivering wellbeing initiatives. We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills who can clearly explain policies and complex information and build effective relationships and influence teams.
You’ll be highly organised, able to work independently, and confident managing projects and priorities. You’ll have strong analytical and decision‑making skills, and be confident with IT (particularly Microsoft tools). You will also be skilled at handling sensitive wellbeing disclosures with professionalism, confidentiality and appropriate escalation.

Eligibility
