Description

In a Nutshell:

In this role, you will take ownership of the inbound supply plan for a defined product portfolio, ensuring the right balance between service performance and inventory levels. You will manage stock across satellite warehouses through direct supplier deliveries or replenishment from the primary site, maintaining optimal availability at all times. Working to agreed KPIs, you will monitor performance, drive continuous improvement, and oversee day‑to‑day interactions with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure efficient operational purchasing. You will also play a key part in supporting wider business objectives, contributing to sales growth, operational efficiency, safety standards, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

KPI’s

  • Play a part in the Supply team maintaining service level above agreed target level.
  • Play a part in the Supply team maintaining inventory level below agreed target.
  • For all KPI’s, drive improvement activity to continuously close gaps and address recurring issues.
  • Minimise Excess and Obsolete stock.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and continuously improve supply policies that drive towards KPI delivery and ensure efficient operation.
  • Align the Supply Plan with the Demand Plan using business systems.

Operational Planning

  • Maintain effective communication and information flow between suppliers, forwarder, warehouse, production and sales.
  • Responsible for part of the portfolio of finished goods and raw materials.
  • Manage the delivery of New Product Introduction and Modifications from suppliers.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the information flow through the used IT Systems.

Supplier Management

  • Drive supplier delivery performance and other key deliverables.
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to continuously improve in aspects of supply chain performance.
  • Maintain effective two-way communication with suppliers, both on transactional matters and in performance reviews.
  • Build supplier relationships to ensure their commitment to deliver materials in line with the business’s requirements for quality, timeliness and cost.
  • Team

    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with people at all levels, both internal and external.
    • Contribute to effective absence cover for the Supply team.
    • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Regulations at all levels as appropriate.
    • Any other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager or Director

    Essential

    • Good level of general and further education.
    • Experience in dealing with operational situations in procurement, production or process management.
    • Used to working in an environment of high production volumes.
    • Good analytical and statistical skills.
    • Diligence in ensuring that developed plans and strategies are followed through to success.
    • Good MS Excel skills.
    • Open-minded, determined, diligent, driven and enthusiastic, team worker.
  • Able to gain respect of others and obtain their buy-in.
  • Able to operate confidently and communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Professional in approach, acting with tact and diplomacy.
  • Committed to learning and self-development.
  • Desirable

    • Degree in any discipline.
    • Materials management qualification.
    • Experience in dealing with external suppliers.
    • Experience of working in a long-leadtime planning environment.
    • Experience of working within a large, multi-site, international organisation.
    • Able to demonstrate personal success in the achievement of continuous improvement through KPI’s.
    • Experience of production management.
    • Competent in the application of planning methodologies and use of MRP systems.
    • Able to analyse and resolve complex situations.
