Job description
Clinically, the post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day perioperative management of orthopaedic surgical patients working under the supervision of the Specialist Registrars and Consultants, supporting a team of Foundation Equivalent Programme doctors. You will also have opportunities to participate in operative cases, multidisciplinary meetings and outpatient clinics and will be supported in conducting quality improvement and audit activities.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- o2 years post Medical School experience i.e. Foundation Year 1 and 2 (or equivalent) completed
- oFull GMC Registration and licence to practice
- oCandidates should demonstrate experience and understanding of peri-operative assessment, common post-operative conditions and multi-disciplinary discharge to a community setting.
Desirable
- oAdvanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent.
- oMRCS or equivalent
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- oCompetent in basic procedures, physical examination, history taking, infection control.
- oUnderstands current clinical issues in orthopaedics.
- oAware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help.
- oUnderstands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection.
Desirable
- oKnowledge of UK health systems and practices including the relationship between primary and secondary care and inter professional relationships.
- oKnowledge of current issues in the NHS.
- oUnderstands the importance and impact of information systems in health care
