SEND Teacher (Autism Specialist) | Primary | QTS | London (Chelsea / Imperial Wharf)
Location: Imperial Wharf, Chelsea (Hammersmith & Fulham), London
Salary: Up to £46,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Monday to Friday)
Shape early learning in a truly specialist SEND environment
First Bridge School is a specialist SEND school supporting pupils aged 2–9 with autism and complex developmental needs.
This is not a mainstream setting with SEND provision added on.
We operate a fully integrated therapeutic model, where Teachers work alongside:
- Headteacher and Senior teacher
- Behaviour Specialists
- Speech & Language Therapists (SALT)
- Occupational Therapists (OT)
You’ll deliver structured, personalised learning in an environment designed specifically for autism and complex needs education.
The Role: SEND Teacher (Autism / SEN School)
You will lead a small class of pupils with autism and additional needs, supported by trained Teaching Assistants and a multidisciplinary team.
Your focus:
- Deliver high-quality SEND teaching aligned to EHCP outcomes
- Support pupils with communication, behaviour, and sensory needs
- Build a structured, predictable, and safe learning environment
- Drive measurable progress in early learning and development
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver individualised SEND lessons tailored to EHCP targets
- Use autism-specific teaching strategies (e.g. structured routines, visual supports, communication systems)
- Differentiate learning for pupils with ASC, speech & language needs, and developmental delays
Requirements
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) + ECT induction completed
- Experience teaching in SEN / SEND / autism settings or with diverse learning needs
- Strong understanding of EHCPs, differentiation, and personalised learning
- Ability to support pupils with autism, communication needs, and behaviour challenges
- Confident classroom management using structured and consistent approaches
- Strong assessment and progress-tracking capability
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Experience in a specialist SEND school or alternative provision
- Knowledge of autism strategies (e.g. TEACCH, PECS, ABA-informed approaches)
- Experience working alongside SALT, OT, or clinical teams
- Experience with pre-verbal pupils or complex communication needs
