Description

Role: Technical Project Lead

Salary: up to £70,000

Location: West Midlands

Type: Permanent

Our client is a delivery-focused consultancy that partners with organisations to deliver complex technology, data, and operational transformation programmes.

You will lead end-to-end product and technical implementations, translating business requirements into actionable delivery plans, coordinating with developers, business analysts, and product managers, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

The Role

You will work on 2 concurrent implementations, each typically lasting ~12 weeks, and will play a key role in driving the delivery lifecycle, managing dependencies, and communicating outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is not a coding role, but a deep understanding of technical delivery, software lifecycle, and API integrations is required. Candidates should bring a product-minded approach, pragmatic delivery experience, and leadership potential to mentor junior team members and contribute to improving delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of multiple product implementations simultaneously.
  • Translate business requirements into technical tasks and milestones.
  • Manage project timelines, dependencies, risks, and issues to ensure successful delivery.
  • Work closely with developers, technical leads, business analysts, and client project managers to maintain progress and quality.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to executives, business stakeholders, and clients.
  • Contribute to the technical community, sharing best practices and improving ways of working.
  • Support and coach junior team members in delivery planning and execution.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong project management experience with a proven track record of delivering software or technical products from planning to completion.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle, APIs, and technical integrations.
  • Ability to challenge solutions and influence engineers on approach and outcomes.
  • Comfortable managing risk, dependencies, and issues across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and other delivery tracking platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience engaging with executives and client sponsors.
  • Background in technical product delivery, ideally in consulting, mid-size tech companies, or scaleups.
  • Experience in SAP, Maximo, data migration, or system integration projects is a plus.
  • Product-minded and proactive, with the ability to coach and lead others without direct authority.

What We’re Looking For

  • Pragmatic delivery leader – focused on outcomes rather than processes.
  • Product-minded thinker – understands the full product lifecycle and how to deliver value quickly.
  • Collaborative communicator – can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Team player and mentor – helps junior staff grow and contributes to improving delivery standards.
