Job Introduction

Therapy Support Worker / Community Support Worker – The Orbital, Swindon, SN25 4AN

We are excited to be recruiting Therapy Support Workers / Community Support Workers to join our team at The Orbital in Swindon. We welcome applications for both full-time and part-time roles, offering flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

Whilst the current requirement focuses on roles providing rehabilitation alongside Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy colleagues, in this varied and rewarding position you will have the opportunity to support nursing areas and therapy services as our integrated neighbourhood teams develop.

You will be working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. Comprehensive and appropriate training will be provided to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver treatment/care within a community setting as specified in a written care plan, under the guidance of a registered practitioner.
  • To support and enable patients to reach their optimum level of independence, rehabilitation, and self-management in daily living tasks.
  • To work with patients individually and in groups using specific rehabilitation techniques and skills.
  • To communicate with individuals about routine and daily activities, this may include overcoming difficulties (e.g. hearing/language).
  • To keep the patient at the centre of their care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making.
  • To work within a multi-professional team and to feedback service user progress, liaising with colleagues, families, carers and other agencies.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Good general education.
  • Care Certificate – or willingness to achieve.
  • Experience within NHS or care sector.
  • Experience in providing care / delivering rehab or exercise.
  • Experience of working under supervision.
  • Experience of supporting other workers.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Delivering patient focused care.
  • Ability to recognise own limitations.
  • Typing/data inputting skills.
  • Physical skills to manually handle patients and use appropriate lifting aids.
  • Experience in providing care / delivering rehab or exercise.
  • Driven to achieve.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Current full driving license and use of a car during working hours.

  • Desirable:

    • Experience of community working.
    • Experience of work in an acute or urgent health care setting.
    • Experience of working in rehabilitation.
