Description
Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Our Planning team works across Scotland, the North of England and Northern Ireland, supporting major development and infrastructure projects that help shape sustainable, resilient and inclusive places. As part of a multidisciplinary consultancy, planners at Arup collaborate closely with colleagues in transport, environment, design and engineering to deliver integrated solutions for our clients.

The Opportunity

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Town Planner to join our growing team in Glasgow, with experience of providing planning consultancy services, particularly within the Scottish market.

In this role, you will support and manage a range of development and infrastructure projects, providing both policy and development planning advice to public- and private sector clients. You will work on projects from early policy development through to consent, often as part of integrated, multidisciplinary teams.

Your work will include supporting major infrastructure projects, influencing planning policy, contributing to planning documents and representing clients through the consenting process. There will also be opportunities to work on projects across the wider UK.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related subject, with RTPI membership or working towards chartership
  • Experience in development management within Scotland, including the preparation and submission of planning applications
  • Experience working in the public and/or private sector as part of project teams
  • Experience of managing small assignments/tasks within a wider team—a proven track record of working in a team-oriented environment.
  • A proactive approach to learning, collaboration and contributing to high-quality project outcomes
