Are you interested in a new career in Trading Standards? We are looking for a flexible highly motivated individual able to work on their own initiative but also as part of a team.
You will need to demonstrate a proven ability and willingness to study and develop your skills and knowledge to successfully complete the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional Apprenticeship. On successful completion of this qualification, there may be a further opportunity to complete the Trading Standards Qualification Framework over a further period.
This post is fully funded by the Department of Health and Social Care. You will primarily focus on tackling illegal and underage sales of tobacco products as well as supporting businesses to achieve compliance across a range of legislation designed to protect consumers and in particular young people. You will also gain experience across all aspects of Trading Standards activities.
You will join our forward thinking Trading Standards Service, which combines a commercial approach to supporting businesses and income generation with a range of innovative problem solving enforcement tactics to protect our communities, particularly more vulnerable residents.
With our strong record for developing and advancing officers though our career scheme we are well placed to provide mentoring and support to the right candidates who demonstrate the potential needed.

A condition of this employment is the successful completion of the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional Apprenticeship. The normal duration of this Apprenticeship is 29 months, however depending on experience this may be shortened. In order to complete this Apprenticeship, you must have achieved the equivalent of five GCSE passes (including English and Maths) and at least two at Advanced level.
If successful you will be required to pass and maintain non-police personnel level 2 vetting.
