Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist

We are excited to offer aTrainee Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP)opportunity within Dorset Healthcare CAMHS, combining academic study with theUniversity of Bath MSc Clinical Associate Psychologist programmealongside hands-on clinical experience.

In this role, you will work under the supervision of experienced psychologists to deliverevidence-based psychological assessment and interventionsfor children, young people and families with a range of mental health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills informulation, assessment, and intervention, while working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary CAMHS team. This role requires the ability to balance academic study, clinical responsibilities, and personal development within a structured training pathway.

The Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist This post is part of an18-month funded MSc training programme with the University of Bath, where you will combine academic learning with supervised clinical practice. This is a Band 5 role whilst training, with the scope to move into a Band 6 role upon successful completion. This can be discussed at interview stage.

Person specification

Knowledge, Skills and Training

Essential

• Single or Joint Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) and MSc CAP
• Eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society via qualification recognition or by alternative route.
• Graduate level knowledge of psychological theory and research.

Job Specific Experience

Essential

• Previous experience of working with adults, children and their families who experience mental health difficulties.
• Experience offering short term evidence based interventions
• Experience in developing and delivering of group work and/or teaching groups of children
• An ability to write correspondence and reports to a high standard
• Ability to manage demanding workload to agreed deadlines and timescales

Desirable

• Previous experience working with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and/or ADHD and/or other developmental disorders

Managerial/Supervisory Experience

Desirable

• Experience in teaching on in-house (professionals/peers) training sessions
• Supervisory skills/experience

Personal Qualities

Essential

• Ability to liaise successfully with colleagues in other sectors, health service, social services and private and voluntary organisation
• Ability to communicate verbally with patients/carers and colleagues
