Purpose of the Role
The MRF Trainee is responsible for learning the Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF) process and supporting the manufacture of precision optical components. The role involves operating and maintaining MRF equipment under supervision, following documented processes, and developing the technical skills required to become an independent MRF Technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and follow MRF processing procedures and work instructions.
- Assist with the preparation, loading, and unloading of optical components.
- Support the setup and operation of MRF machines.
- Carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance activities.
- Learn how to interpret manufacturing documentation, process sheets, and technical drawings.
- Assist with metrology activities and data collection.
- Record process information accurately and maintain manufacturing records.
- Monitor work in progress and report any issues or abnormalities to the MRF Lead.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Follow all company quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures.
- Participate in training and development activities to build technical competence.
