About The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Piling Operative to join our Ground Engineering team.

What you'll be doing

You Will Have The Following Accountabilities In This Role:

  • Attend and partake in the structured training, completing and compiling sufficient evidence to assist in record of competence and NVQ process;
  • To work in line with the procedures and policies relating to the activity and to highlight where procedures could be improved;
  • To ensure that the procedures/ policies and other instructions are fully understood before starting work;
  • To maintain PPE provided, to wear it when required & to ensure that others are too;
  • To ask questions of and learn from others and to challenge behaviour which is not in line with your understanding of the procedures and policies;
  • To complete records as requested including CPCS Logbook, to ensure recorded correctly and valid date;
  • To be fit for work, to demonstrate willing and to show reliability;
  • Ensure that the machine is well maintained, all prescribed inspections and preventative maintenance checks are carried out and relevant records are completed fully, correctly, and kept;
  • Monitor wear and tear of the tools & other ancillary equipment;
  • Understand and follow the nominated plant & vehicle marshal signals;
  • STOP if the working environment/ equipment &/or process becomes unsafe for you or others.

  • Who we're looking for

    Essential:

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Should be fit & active and able to work outdoors in all weathers;
    • Hardworking and enthusiastic;
    • Able to communicate clearly to a range of people;
    • Willing to learn & able to take constructive criticism;
    • Self-motivating;
    • Demonstrates the fundamental principles of health and safety and ensures

    that others do;

    • Is able to spot problems during the day to day operations and suggest

    remedial action to the contracts management team;

    • Knows when to STOP if conditions change and safety is compromised.

    Desirable:

    • Good mechanical knowledge/interest of ground improvement and piling

    equipment;

    • Able to assist with the review of work instructions.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Essential:

    • Current CSCS Card;
    • Basic knowledge/Interest of plant and equipment used Piling technique.

    Desirable:

    • Full UK driving licence;
    • NVQ 2;
    • Has previously performed other roles in their core technique;
    • GCSE English & Maths (or able to demonstrate a reasonable level of literacy

    and numeracy).
