Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Catering Manager to oversee the dining experience for our Michael Sobell Jewish Community Cafe. This role is perfect for a chef who is not only passionate about cooking but also loves engaging with people and operational management. You will lead a small team to develop and prepare nutritional, seasonal menus that align with Jewish cultural practices while ensuring exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.This post is working Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 3.30 pm with occasional Fridays 8am to 1.30pm weekends. 35 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
What You Will Be DoingPrepare, cook and present high-quality meals tailored to residents dietary needs while maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards. Develop menus using the Indicator Menu & Recipe Management System and ensure excellent customer service by engaging with residents and families to understand preferences and address concerns. Oversee day-to-day catering operations including stock control, ordering, inventory management, invoice processing and use of EPOS and workforce scheduling systems. Lead and motivate the catering team, manage rotas and support staff training and development. Monitor the catering budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and financial oversight.What You Will NeedNVQ Level 2 or 3 in Catering (essential) and City & Guilds 706 1/2 or equivalent (desirable). At least five years experience in a busy kitchen, ideally within a care or similar setting. Strong knowledge of food safety, COSHH, infection control and health and safety legislation. Excellent culinary, organisational, communication and IT skills, with the ability to lead a team, manage budgets and deliver high standards of customer service.
