Are you an organised and customer-focused individual with a passion about making a positive impact on the environment? West Berkshire Council is seeking two Waste Services Assistants to join our busy Waste Management team, reporting to the Principal Waste Officer (Operations). Both roles are offered on a fixed term basis, one for a period of 5-months and the other for a period of 8-months. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of waste and recycling services within our community.

About The Role

As a Waste Services Assistant, you will be a first point of contact for our customers, providing essential support and assistance regarding waste and recycling enquiries. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Processing applications for waste services, including subscription services
• Handling customer enquiries, complaints and service requests
• Maintaining records and databases
• Supporting officers to carry out their duties
  
  

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:

• A positive and proactive approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organisational and time management abilities

Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling

Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in a customer service role, or similar environment
• An understanding of how to deliver excellent customer service
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office
• Willingness to cross train to assist with other team tasks when required
