NHS England is recruiting a Wider Workforce Lead for the South East Endoscopy Training Academy [SEETA] on secondment for a fixed term basis, until 31 March 2026 in the first instance
. This role is for two days a week.
The post will be home based, working remotely with some attendance at local NHSE offices & regional hospitals. The post holder will sit within the NHSE SE Cancer & Diagnostics Programme and will be instrumental in leading the ongoing development of the South East Endoscopy Training Academy.
The purpose of the role is to lead on the development & training of the wider endoscopy workforce in the South East, providing regional leadership for the delivery of high quality, cross specialty, and multi-professional endoscopy training, together with the wider SEETA core team. The wider workforce includes (but is not limited to) administrators, bookers, pathway navigators and assistant screening practitioners.
The successful candidate should have excellent understanding of and evidence of involvement in the delivery and management of endoscopy education and training, experience as a senior clinician with current NMC or HCPC registration working in the field of endoscopy in the UK, a transformation leadership style, and experience in strategic thinking, problem solving and calculated risk management.
Responsibilities
This role will be integral to the development of the academy & will be responsible for providing insight & leadership within endoscopy wider workforce training. The key outputs from the role, supported by the Academy’s Clinical Lead, Senior Project Manager, and Project Officer, as well as the NHSE SE Cancer & Diagnostics Programme team, will be to:
- Undertake workforce planning to identify the region’s training needs and to identify any challenges in appointing & retaining staff.
- Identify system level training leads for the endoscopy wider workforce & support recruitment, training & retention of staff.
- Co-ordinate training programmes within the South East, including organising & managing large multi-professional working group meetings.
- Further develop and embed career pathways in endoscopy for the wider workforce.
- Work to implement and embed standard administrative training pathways as they develop.
- Develop and deliver upskilling and developmental opportunities for Endoscopy staff to extend their scope of practice, mapped to career pathways.
- Work with partners to develop and deliver professional development for the wider endoscopy workforce and support staff with the aim of improving recruitment and retention for the SE region.
- Development of excellent working relationships with multiple stakeholders including NHSE colleagues, NHS Trusts, Endoscopy Networks, Higher Education Institutes, professional, clinical & education leads.
